The engagement of Brooke and Bradley in Redding California

Lets just say that when I get emails that start like this, “Hi Brent,  I don’t really have many details worked out yet,   I just know you have to be my photographer!! ”   or like this ”  Hey Brent, I am so excited I found you!  You are amazing and exactly what I have been looking for!! ”   It  makes me really happy.  Yes, I can be a sensitive photographer, but aren’t most artists??!!  Of course, Brooke, “I would love to work with you!”

Brooke and Bradley wrote me the first time in April 2010.  Yup,  two years ago.  And then they decided to do something awesome.  Travel.  So I didn’t hear back from them until  September, 2011. They got off the wedding wagon and went to New Zealand and India. Amazing.

They are now back in the US.. just moved to Redding and back in full force wedding planning. Rachel and I can’t wait to hang out again with these two.  Brooke and Rachel actually have a common love for vintage things and good  deals. I’m sure one of these Saturdays Rachel will show her the way  for garage sales here in Redding.  Anyways,  I am so stoked to work with this couple and be apart of their wedding this September.  Congratulations on your engagement!!

The engagement of Nathan Blank and Rebecca Van Dyk in Redding, California

We are so excited to celebrate with these two. It is not every day we get to capture a wedding where Brent knows the groom and I know the bride. Lets just say the world is way too small … especially if you are Dutch or from Redding, Ca. It is going to be a fun one and we are looking forward to being a part of their Oregon wedding in June. Enjoy the awesomeness that Brent captured of their engagement.

The anniversary Shoot

They are married & very much in love. David loves to take pictures and Anna is super duper crafty.  She is an avid blogger and always inspires me to think outside the box. You can check it out here.  I asked Anna about her and David and this is what she had to say…

“David and I met for the first time at Burney Falls on a trip with some friends. I liked him right away  We went out for Pizza as a group after the falls and he came and sat next to me… I was glad he did. Our paths didn’t really cross often and we actually didn’t start dating until the next year. February 5, 2008 we started dating and we were engaged February 5, 2010. 8 months later we were married!! We have been married now for 1.5 years and we are LOVING IT!

I have no idea where we will be in 10 years! Hopefully still enjoying life, enjoying laughing together, enjoying card games, enjoying road trips and loving our family!”

Happy 1.5 years together! Thanks for letting us capture this time of your life together!

Then engagement of Jeremy Christensen and Junnel De Guzman in Redding, California

Jeremy + Junnel engaged.

So I asked Junnel + Jeremy about their love story and this is what they had to say:

“Jeremy and I first met our sophomore year of high school- at a church dance. Jer was too shy to say hi but asked my friends about me. We hung out a little bit but didn’t start dating until the end of senior year of high school.
We have been together almost 8 years, this June!”

How did he propose?

“On our 7th anniversary, we took a trip to napa. Jer tried several times throughout the day but kept getting interrupted- once my manager from UCSF happened to be there, another time a wine tour walked in.. Eventually he asked at dinner at the boonfly (restaurant) over fries and s’mores!”

What are you most looking forward to when you are married?

Jeremy: “Starting the next part of my life w my best friend!”

Junnel: “Making a family and home together.”

Where do you and Jeremy think you will be in 10 years? Working? Kids?

“We will probably both still be working- I love being a pediatric nurse and I haven’t met anyone as happy with his job as jer is being a powerlineman.

Hopefully we have lots of kids! And hopefully live in a house in the sticks with land for gardening and a little bit of farming.”

So Awesome. We look so forward to celebrating with you and capturing your wedding day this May!!

The anniversary of Steven and Jacklyn Potorke in Redding, California

Steven + Jacki celebrate {two years of love}

Meet the Potorke’s. They are kind. loving. simple. fashionable. creative. and live too far away from us! Jacki is my bestie. We lived together in Long Beach and became instant friends when we met. Our souls were connected and we will be friends forever. Our lives have always oddly paralleled each other… until recently when I had my baby girl. They came to visit after Lyla was born and of course wanted Brent to capture their second anniversary. WE had a great time.. walking to the farmers market, drinking coffee and dreaming about the perfect jobs and life. You know, the usual things you do with your best friends.  We love you Steven and Jacki and definitely think you should move to Redding!!! Maybe one day we will live in the same city. But until then we will cherish our weekends we get together.

The engagement of Brian Sybesma and Sara Koll in City of Orange. California

Some engagement love

Sara was in my cousin’s wedding we captured last summer. We had never met before that, but our world’s were definitely intertwined. I was referred to her after she got engaged & decided to take it upon myself to write her an email to congratulate her and introduce myself again. I don’t do that often, but I’m so glad I did because we clicked right away and found out that we are pretty much related! Again, the Dutch community showed me how small it really is. Oddly enough, Sara lives with my mom’s first cousin Mary & her family ( the Flietstra’s) and they both went to my high school, good ole Valley Christian. Pretty sure they were in Jr. high when I was in high school!! Anyways, we were destined to meet. And yes..Brent is slowly learning how small ( or big ) this “Dutch” circle really is.

We met up with these two at Panera Bread one night and had ( of course ) a great time talking about their wedding day! Definitely looking forward to their wedding day in March in southern California!

We decided to go to the city of Orange to shoot their engagement. And while Brent loves shooting engaged couples, I love to tag along. It was very evident that they like each other a lot. Brian and Sara ~ You two are pretty cute together!
