Not everyone has a different look at photography, but those who do stand out both in the profession and in the design area. This is because the professional who has good photographic skills can offer several possibilities in the area of   creation, completely innovative and that exactly fit the identity of the clients.

However, developing these skills is not so simple. As in every area, it takes a lot of study, good references, and of course, a lot of practice.

In this post we will give you some tips so you can start improving your photographic skills and be able to offer differentiated solutions to your customers. Check out!

5 tips to improve photographic skills

1. Get out of your comfort zone

Taking pictures only from your vision, or from a style you are already used to, will not help you develop new skills. Looking for specific jobs that are out of your area can be a great option.

Therefore, try to have contact with some kind of different photo essay, with which you are not accustomed. To do this, talk to new people or professional colleagues.

Thus, you can explore not only other people’s scenes and views, but also study and learn how to take pictures different from the usual ones.

2. Don’t edit your photos

Delivering good photos to customers does not mean knowing how to produce them from an editing program, but having the necessary skills to take good photos at a given time.

Of course, there are always minor adjustments to make and there is no problem editing them. But knowing how to capture images from the best angle and focus, according to the lighting, is a unique skill that can be learned by practicing.

3. Study composition and the rule of thirds

Those who work with design and photography, or at least are interested in the subject, know that the rule of thirds is fully applicable when developing projects. However, many times designers already use ready-made photos and do not capture the intention of each one so much.

When developing photographic skills, you have a greater sense of the composition of the photos, you know what you want to highlight and you are able to capture the essence of each moment, being able to deliver a job that exactly fits the client’s desire.

4. Know how to adjust the camera according to the scenario

To take quality photos , it is not enough to have a good camera, you need to know how to adjust it according to each scenario. It sounds basic, but adjusting a camera requires a prior understanding of focus, lighting and contrast.

Knowing the functions of the equipment well, it is much easier to adjust it correctly according to each scenario, being it well lit, in bad conditions, with shadows, at night or day. Thus, the chances are greater that your photos will come out practically perfect, without the need for retouching.

5. Always study

Good design and photography professionals are always studying. That’s because every day new trends related to the area appear, and learning them is extremely necessary to stand out in the market.

So always be practicing, participate in lectures, seminars, take online courses and try to repeat photos that you considered beautiful.
